The magnificent 7 houses are a group of mansions located around the Queens Park Savannah Port-of-Spain  on Maraval Road. They were built between 1902 and 1910 and are  are listed as Heritage sites at the national Trust of Trinidad and Tobago. These buildings are considered to be unique because of their styles which includes French Colonial, Scotish Baronnial,Indian Empire, and Moorish Mediterranean style blended with Caribbean Architecture. They include, Queens Royal College,Hayes Court, Mille Fleurs, Ambard's House, Archbishop's House, White Hall and Stollmeyers Castle.

CREATING THE STOLLMEYERS CASTLE ON CANVAS.

A Purple bluish sky with streaks of white and yellows slashed across, reds and oranges is the image that I had in mind when I started to paint the Stollmeyers Castle.  

This building is my favourite of the magnificent 7 and I wanted to personalise the space around it as much as possible by using purple since it is one of my favourite colours.

My main focus in doing this piece was to show despite going through difficult times, there will come a moment when things will start to fall into place bit by bit, a message that I keep in mind whenever faced with challenges. 

This is portrayed by the dismayed atmosphere the piece gives off with the help of the purple sky and the look of the building itself, among it one can see hope with the streaks of yellow and the brightness of the trees. 

This was the interpretation I created for myself when doing this piece, overall I prefer the viewers to feel what they like when looking at any of my work.

Recreating the Magnificent 7 on canvas was a way for me to promote their continued preservation and restoration by showcasing their beauty in the best way possible.This had to be done by using multiple photographs for each building in order to ensure that I got the majority of their architectural  features.
